Was reading label for the Polyester Primer Surfacer that I've bought.. it says "Finish with 220 grit followed by 320-400 grit.."

So if I do a complete and thorough job blocking with 220 grit paper, is it acceptable to use a red scotch-brite pad as my final going over, for the 320 grit (I've read that the red pads approximate 320)? Would a lite touch with the pad be enough to not disturb the flatness that the 220 paper has created? Or is that just wishful thinking, lol? BTW 320 is the recommended final sand for the AU non-metalic single stage paint that I have on hand.
