Now that was funny. LMAO!!! But seriously was he alright? Its still funny but, I hope he was ok. OH God I can't stop laughing. Seriously, I blew a snotrocket when I read that...
There isn't enough room on here to tell all the crazy crap I've done in a car or truck. But the funniest was jumping the passenger tire of my lifted 4x4 up on the sidewalk and chasing 3 6ft tall black guys in high heels and sequenced dresses to the next light pole. This was on the cruise line in Charleston, WV on a Saturday night in Kanawaha City. I was famous for months. Funniest thing I ever did or saw. Black guys can run but, in high heels and tight dresses? Man that was hilarious!!! If you ever did that... You might be a redneck.

Coming down the Montana Rockies through McDonald Pass in a logging truck at night. The truck had leaking air brakes and no dash lights. The chase driver gave me a flashlight so that I could watch air pressure and instructions on what to do if I lost all air. I was to drive into the bank to scrub off speed and then turn the truck to the right as I bailed out so I wouldn’t get run over. I geared down and tried not to use the brakes; a very quick trip down the mountain. |
Are you saying you were afraid you would lose your brakes if you lost your air?

How long ago was this? most trucks have spring brakes, so when they lose air pressure, they automatically come on |

Even the early air brake systems had the safety thing on 'em. When you lose air pressure, the brakes lock up. _________________ Josh

Ridin' out through the Texas hill country in a Grand Prix while drinkin' Wild Turkey and standin' up through the sun roof shootin' a .357 magnum at anything that seemed to deserve it, which was most everything as I recall. My friggin' ears are still ringin' and that's been almost 30 years ago. |

While in H.S., I was in my friend's '72 Nova(NoGo,ha!) down a two lane highway, when we came upon a line of cars ahead of us. Since there were also cars coming at regular intervals from the other direction, we could not pass them legally to the left. Brainstorming produced the bright idea to pass on the right. I didn't think he had the balls, but he proved me terrifying wrong. We passed close to a dozen cars with the left tires in the pavement, and the right tires in the grass(very squirrelly) at speeds approaching 120mph at times. I left permanent indents in the oh-$hit bar, while my buddy laughed hysterically the whole time. I offered to drive from that date on.

You could have just not ridden with him. That's what I did after I rode with a kid who thought it was a brilliant idea to drive 90mph down a bumpy Alaskan frontage road in a Subaru with no shocks _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=366056 - My '73 Super Build. 2332cc, 16" Fuchs |

I've got a friend with a '99 Mazda Miata...and he loves taking that thing sideways at high velocity. It's fun as hell to be with him, but he's lucky he hasn't wrecked yet, his rear tires are BALD now.
Although the most fun we ever had was with his dad's '04ish E class Mercedes. He was driving me home, and there was a light coating of snow on the roads. He turned off the traction control, and then proceeded to drive down the 2 lane highway at 55 MPH, sideways on all of the turns. So fun...
And then there's the "expeditions" we take in his '85 Benz... _________________ My '72 Super |

*One year my friends and I lit fireworks and firecrackers from the inside of my old beat up Ford Escort while I was driving...a few of them were lit and thrown out the window onto the hood when we came to a stop. When they got to their first stage and took off, there left scorch marks all over the hood.
*Rode in the back of my best friend's pickup, pushing shopping carts out the back on deserted roads at 80mph...at night you see tons of sparks! In hindsight that was pretty dumb; my friend rolled that truck a short time later, bought a new truck and then totaled it by running into a parked car on the side of the highway in the early morning (both times he was the only one around and he caused his own accidents). Probably shouldn't have done that with him driving... |

Going down the highway and hit black ice in my Beetle, it spun me 180 degree's into the other lane (3 lane highway) and I had it neutral so I proceeded to go backwards looking at the cars coming my way..and then I hit another patch that spun me 180 again back into my lane and I was going forward again ..The car behind me hit the patch spun out and was hit by another car... _________________ PNW Dub Folk & Kitsap dub Folk (KdF)

It's not the 4 matic, just RWD. But we had the traction control off
Considered taking the Beetle out today and having some fun in a snowy parking lot, but I currently don't have brakelights, it's dark, and I'd rather not be rear-ended. _________________ My '72 Super |

in my toyota mr2
my friend let me borrow an aftermarket steering wheel so i put it on and started to go driving to the junkyard (one of my many regular visits there just to check up on things) and i hated it, it was too small and so close to the turn signal thing that i was constantly hitting it along with the cruise control thing, so i got to a stoplight before getting on the freeway and i quickly took out my wrench unscrewed the bolt took off the crappy wheel and put on the original one that was in the passenger seat
iv probably done stupider just cant remember at the moment |

got me another one, this one happened in my dad's 1982 vanagon diesel. on our way back from LAX the throttle cable snaps, i was driving and let the van role off the freeway onto a off-ramp, my dad's genius knows no bounds and on this night he genius was showing, after he couldn't find out where the cable broke we found 7-8inches of electrical wire off to the side of the pavement, he connected one end of the wire to where the original wire connects in the engine bay on the injector pump/fuel pump and held in his hand the other end. the rest of the way home he sat in the back of the van with then engine cover 1/2 off controlling the throttle while i steered and worked the clutch. i was 16 or 17, iv never fully trusted his van and although this is one of the weirdest thing to happen to me in a car i wasn't at all surprised that it happened in his van |

I was driving from Phoenix to Tucson in the 71 bug when it started raining buckets. Of course, windshield wipers were not currently working (or even on the car for that matter) I pulled into a gas station and stole a squeegee. Spent the rest of the ride with my arm out the window wiping my own windshield.
ahh, 17. |

why did this thread die!!!!
I cant even tell you how hard I was laughing by the end.
in 1978, I was sporting long hair, a bad altitude and a 68 sun roof baja. KC's on the roof, screaming yellow. Well back in those days the occasional "I will kick you ass" car chase was on. I lived with the parents then and we were in a brand new subdivision on the border of tempe az and mesa az. Much of it was farm land. Being I had a baja, I knew the area pretty good. There was one field with 8 to 10 foot high berms all the way around about a square mile. There was an irigation ditch that divided the fields. Well I was being chased by a Chevelle and I ducked into that field. I headed for the ditch, because I knew where the one and only railroad tie bridge was. The other guy didnt. he half hit the bridge and destroyed it and his entire front end. I had to climb the berm and leave via the up and over method. I also caught a buddy of mine in his baja "getting it on" in that same field months latter. I lit him up with the KC's too. kind of broke his rhythm. He was mad for about a week.
Another time...Still living with the parents, 3 am coming home from work. Jerk in the on coming lane had his brights on. I flashed him once, then again and just as he was passing by, he got the KC daylighters. Its very amazing how fast a cop can hit the blue lights when he is blinded. I ducked into the neighborhood and parked the bug on the side of the house. 2 hours latter, my dad was in my room giving me a lecture about how bad it is for cops to knock on the front door and him having to lie for me.
xmas years latter I explained to my dad that his car once did 12.46 at 128 mph at a drag strip. I (1973 401 AMC matador ex highway patrol interceptor) I was 45 years old at that time of my confession. Dad tried to give me a spanking right then and there.. I think he really meant it.
And as metioned previously, all of this happened in Arizona. |

Sent a 1990 Subaru Legacy airborne... really, really airborne. It didn't kill it (definitely threw the alignment off big time).
I did kill it at work about a week later when my boss and I had an impromptu demolition derby in the work parking lot, he was in a Ford Tempo that had been sitting on the property for some time... the joys of working at a wee little performance shop in the absolute middle of nowhere. (And the Subie absolutely destroyed that Tempo!) _________________ '60 Canadian Standard, '64 Bug, another '64 Bug, '66 Bug, '69 Sunroof Bug, '69 GT3 Bug, '71 Super, '72 Super, '73 Canadian Custom, '74 Love Bug, '83 Mexi Bug, '85 Cabrio, '94 Mexi Bug, '99 New Beetle, '02 New Beetle Turbo S, '03 New Beetle VR6.
