Here's my project build so far. Picked up a 1972 Super Beetle with SERIOUS patina and decided to build it into a rat rod since it's too far gone to restore. I like it because I'm a 1972 myself! It's getting a 1968 1500 Single Port motor, 1968 hood and a bunch of other mods. I'm pretty much making it up as I go!

Here's when it was delivered to me without an engine in it.

After adding some fat tires on the back, some cutting and putting my logo on the door:

Here's how it looks now after some cutting and placing the hood and headlights plus building a DIY roof rack:

Cutting off the crusty vinyl seats, trimming the headrest off and building some custom low buck low-backs! (idea complements of Frankie's build on Volksrods.com)

Cut up some license plates for a little décor {the dash says CRE-8}:

That's one way to get a standard hood on a Super! I like the licence plate lettering. There is a guy from across the pond who did his interior panels with burlap coffee sacks. That had the artistic bent too. You should check it out.

OMG I just searched for his thread to drop you the link and see you have already been there and commented too! Well I might as well clutter up your thread with the coffee sacks as long as I'm here with the link so.... do this Cool

Hi Coffee Freak: feel free to do. The making of was simple. I had used the old door cards. Only a small piece of foam in between, good looking sacks from ebay, a scissor and a little bit of gloom. Per card maybe max. one hour.
