Outside of dogleg installed.

Although a little more work, I think I prefer the Klassicfab over the Wolfsburg West dogleg. Will see how getting it finished goes.

Today was motor and transmission day.

Transmission got a new reverse gear and cage, shifting rod bushings, carrier bearings, seals and gaskets. Ready to install.

Motor still needs a few things but it's close.

Dogleg done.

Almost missed the holes. Made a press from some things laying around.

I preferred the Wolfsburg West dogleg. Has a better stamping.

Floor fitted. Just needed to make the notches for the a pillars bigger.

Should these dimples for a right hand drive gas peddle be removed?

Floor in tonight. Had to force the front lip farward.

Starting to look like there may be an end to the metal work.

Replaced the seal channel and ground the floor welds. Installed the front vent tube.

Put seam sealer at front and rear of floor before i install the heater tubes. Added some seam sealer to the heater tubes also. They had some quiet large gaps.

Heater tubes installed.

Floors fitted.

OK the floors are shit but I had them... Purchased them 25 years ago when that was likely the best you could get. Thickness is not bad but the stamping is... week Smile Its getting a plywood floor with the camper interior and from underneath it will not look to bad with all the ribs and tubs blocking the view... And really how many people will be crawling around under it anyway. Haha.

I replaced the sub par dogleg but could not justify new floors.

Anyway they are all ready to weld in tomorrow. Last major metal work.

Went better than expected. That was a lot of welds though.

Rebuild the left jack points. I kept forgetting about them. I purchased some from cip1 but they weren't quite right and poor quality.

Started taking the beam apart. The spindles are both great so will just clean them up and change the grease fittings. That saves lots of work. Pins are good put will need new bearings and seals.

Beam apart.

Spring was a pain to remove from one of the arms. Beat it out eventually.

Two broken leafs on the upper set.

Tonight wasn't very productive...

Spent all evening getting a twisted off bolt out. Must have welded on it 20 times. Was about to give up and cut into the post to replace the nut when it started to move back and forth a little. Finally it stripped and I was able to pull it out.

Tapped the hole and it looks fine. Put the door back on and the hinge moves. Others are nice an solid. Support must be cracked inside the post. Looks like I have to cut into it anyway... On the plus side the doors line up great when I push the hinge forward.

Fixed the floppy hinge. Just drilled some holes through the skin and welded the hinge plate to the skin. Nice and solid now.

Then spent the evening scraping paint.

Decided to look at the rear cargo door tonight.

Cleaned off the filler. Creased into the rib quit deep. No way to get it straightened so cut out the panel. With the panel off I was able to straighten the rib and get the upper section quite smooth. I will need the shrink the panel a bit though.

Lots of little stuff today.

Cleaned the filler of the left rear corner. Filler must have been cheep...

Bottom lip was thin and cracked. Made a new lip using the other side as a pattern. Nice and solid now. Corner came out nice but I will have to shrink it some by the tail light hole.

At some point one of the bumper holes was cut bigger with a torch. Found a washer of the same thickness and used a hole saw to remove the old metal.

The hole saw thing worked so well that I used it to replace a thin spot.
