Hey all,
Im building a 69 bug and I got some 71 fenders for it. They had no headlights or buckets so I ordered some new ones including these aftermarket blinker headlights. However I just cant get any of it to fit and I don't know if I'm doing something wrong of if the headlights are just crap and don't fit. Ive already had to grind away the nubs on the headlights because they did not align with the buckets, and I've been able to get the assembly into the car, but the chrome rings do not fit over it.
The headlights seem to stick out far up top and they look like they hang really low on the bottom, so when I try and put the chrome ring on the bottom hits the inner ring. Is there some trick to getting these on, or are the bucket or headlight just not gonna work?
Cheers

The above pic looks odd to me. The tab that holds the inner bucket to the outer bucket looks bent like the inner bucket is sitting too far forward.
Here is a pic of a headlight assembly where you can make out the tabs are not stretched out like yours. They are more like 90-deg bends.
Is the headlight connector sticking out the rear of the inner bucket so much that it is preventing it from seating properly in the outer bucket?
Some have reported that they needed to cut out the pocket in the fender to make room for their aftermarket headlight plug. You may be having the same problem. _________________ AshMan40

I noticed that too, but thats how they came directly from the retailer. Both the same. When I compare them to the old school one I have it actually sits at almost the same place. |

There are two more lower holes for the upper mounting screws. Any way you could use these? They would mount the headlights higher in the buckets. Would this affect the lower mounting point?
Since those don't appear to be VW headight assemblies I wonder if you won't need to mod them with a file to get a better fit? _________________ AshMan40
