Thanks Jason. When I bought the bus, the guy was like, I have this tent - do you want it? And I'm like yeah. It looks like it has been used like 3 times. |
Thats the sweetest part of the score - it being all nice and 1975 Is it inspected stamped on the inside by the door? _________________

Most of the tin that came in my bus was scrap (original owners grinded it for some reason). Taking some tin off a different engine trying to collect all the tins together that I'm missing.
Check how easily these old ¿fuel? lines crack! These are from the fuel injection. _________________ 1972 Westfalia P30 hardtop Campmobile [On-going Restoration]

Which is sadly why so many fuel injected buses burn due to lack of preventative maintenance. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

Nice afternoon fixing up a new bike rack. Spent quite a bit of time wondering which to go for - make one, buy one / tow bar fixing / rear door fixing - eventually went for the fiamma. Nice and light and well made.

I have a 1977 weekender. It recently died on a trip to the pinnacles. Replace the alternator and regulator, dual relay and added a few clamps to the vacuum lines. I also gave it a tune up. Still runs a little rough while cold. I still need to learn more about fuel injection testing. |

Yes, me too for all he same reasons. One thing you shouldn't do - as I've seen numerous times on cars in general is throw parts at it.
With these old systems you need to find the issue or narrow it down tremendously. Then some of the parts you buy may need to be verified and or tweaked.
That manual Kent just posted is prescribed for me as well. _________________

Joy at the MAACO in Northglenn, CO did a great job. I know a lot of people poo-poo MAACO but this one is different then most. I wasn't trying for show quality and didn't care about fixing the dents and such.

Wow.. That's looks really good! I'd much rather see a Macco paint job done that nicely on a bus then it be a ratty, POS, beater looking bus.
What did that paint job set your back? _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

In '97 I had a '73 Fasty painted at the Maaco in Alexandria, VA and they did a great job. I opted for a mid-tier job...not the cheapest, not the most expensive, and the paint was really nice...thick, very glossy (with my clear coat) and without any runs.
My "what did you do for your Bay" addition is a replacement of my engine bay lighting with something a little less cobbled together. I was previously using some of that self-adhesive flexible LED strip that I'd cut into 3 segments and bridged together with some wire segments, but my first set yellowed quickly and my second attempt was such a bear to solder that I just opted for something off-the-shelf:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WQFOZQ2?ref_=pe_1196280_123950170
I used small pop rivets to attach the metal holders/clips to the metal ribs of the engine bay ceiling and then wired it to a VW switch I have in the engine compartment. I added a VW inline fuse holder I had from a prior project and now have great engine bay lighting (at a fraction of the frustration compared to the flexible LED strips).
So yeah, that was my Saturday afternoon.

I bolted up new engine hangers on my chassis, wired, plumbed fuel lines, and got my new engine in and running. Still needs some cleaning up, and a bunch of other stuff, but nothing I can't handle.

What is that material that you are using to connect your head dump tubes to the heater control valves? |

Sorted out a big upgrade on my 1974 windscreen wipers. It's taken a while! Initially I adapted my original set up with an electric screen wash button replacing the pressurised version. This was only half successful as the connectors became loose in the process and the wipers were inconsistent even if the motorised washer was a huge improvement (no leaks on my knees when driving!). So I started looking around on ebay for a replacement wiper stick. Stumbled on a very rare one which had the electronic connections all sorted. But then I wondered about going the next step up and working out how to make them intermittent. After extensive reading around I found that a 99 relay appropriately wired up could make it all happen, so I set to work. It all took me some time to work it out but got there in the end and I now have three settings on my wipers - slow, fast and intermittent. And the wiper goes into action when I want to wash the screen automatically... All very modern.
