Rear axle question?

I understand this break down but I am confused about the big washer for splits (#5)?
Does any one have a real picture break down of the rear axle with this washer for cable brake split?
Please any help or advice would be appreciated.

that is the one that comes in the axle seal kit. it is to sandwich the o ring #7 and the spacer #8 .you normally do not re-use it.
