Saw this in the vendor section and figured I would try one out. The quality is really good. Welds are excellent. Stainless seems a little thin compared to the other pipes, but seems very high quality. Came with all the mounting hardware and gaskets. Was pretty easy to put on and it lined up perfectly. Bus seems to like it...It is lighter than the cast iron elbow and J-Pipe combination. Less joints to leak too. Overall I'm impressed.

As someone who welds for a living, those welds actually look like they were done by someone who knew what they were doing.
Thats a rare thing on van exhausts.

Where's the bung for the O2 sensor? I thought it was on the J pipe. Is it on the cat?

Nevermind. I see it. Looks like a nice replacement.

My van badly needs some body/paint attention but that stainless steel exhaust tip could buy me another year,

I just put one of these on my van and am happy with it. It's fits great although I still have a small exhaust leak at the upstream end that I was hoping to eliminate. I plan to remove the SS pipe and file the flange of the OE pipes to make the mating surfaces flatter.

It could be my imagination but my butt cheek dyno tells me that I have just a little more oomph between 3k and 4k RPMs.

The sound is a little different. Less of a pulsing thump-thump-thump, and more of a humming, thumm-thumm-thumm. But, again, adding the pipe did eliminate/reduce an exhaust leak that I had.

I'll report back on MPG changes once I run through a couple tanks of gas.

Get a tube of high temp copper silicone. Follow the directions. I attach my race card header to the head with only this, no gaskets. Coat your gasket and assemble. Should seal up fine.

Mine sounds like the Hannibal Twin 8 from the Movie "The Great Race" (you'll note it's rear-engined).

It's got a cannon, too.

1/4 the cylinders and all the rumble. Kind of a deep-throated burble with a hint of that VW chime. At least, so I tell myself.

Nice pipes, SCM.

I have their SS Tail Pipe on my stock 1.9:exhaust. I got fed up with the tail pipe that came with the exhaust system kit rusting like crazy no matter what I did to it.
The last straw was when I removed it, sand blasted it to bare metal, painted high temp exhaust paint on it that was holding up fairly well in the rest of the exhaust, and the tail pipe rusted the same as before.... Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad
Day that I installed the Vintage Speed part.
