That field was cleared of all VWs. The '53 Oval was very rough and missing most original parts. The next owner was looking but don't know if he re-sold it or is still searching for parts. The Ghia was extremely rough and was scrapped. The clearance of the yard was a bit of a free for all with rare stuff mixed in with junk. The '64 Beetle was desired by many, but paperwork issues turned off most. It passed through a couple of hands, one honest, one not so much, before it ended up "re-registered". I was told it has been saved and is currently a slammed patina ride, but have not seen the proof of that...

Im glad to hear some of those were saved, very interesting story on that 64'. Makes me wonder what ever happened to the owner and made him skip out on the car  |

I believe most of the vehicles in the yard found new homes. Other then the '64 Beetle, I do not believe any of the others have returned to the road yet. All were rough from sitting in the damp for years. I believe a dispute over money owed for work performed on this Beetle led to its abandonment and subsequent paperwork issues. The field owner, long retired, just wanted it cleared out with everything else...

Plenty of folks not giving a hoot today about abandoned 1980's & 90s cars now a days. Probably the case when this one was abandoned. |
