Has anyone replaced a brake light switch? And if so when I take the old one out is a ton of Brake fluid going to pour out? Or can I get the new one in without having to bleed all my brakes?

If anyone lives in Northeastern Ohio or western PA there is place in Euclid called Euclid Foreign Motors (20020 St Clair Rd) and they carry a TON of VW parts. Just about anything you could need. Good people also.

One other thing. My old brake switch only had 2 prongs on it. But when I have been looking through BusDepot and JCW the have them listed as

50-69 2pin
68-72 3pin

I have a 71 so does it not matter if it is 2 or 3 pin?

Thanks

Hi All
Thanks for putting up with me, but I just got the one switch put in with the 2 connectors on it. Only to find out that there is another switch under there that has a 3 pronged plug that goes into it. Now when I checked the voltage on each one, I was getting 12.25V at both.

With the new 2 pronged switch on and all plugged back in the lights still won't go on, but if I touch the two wires together, both brake lights go on? Is there something I am missing here? I need to hit the road in like an hour and would like to get this done today. Danks

Whoo Hoo. Its working again!!!!!! I think all I needed to do was start the bus, and pump the brakes a few times to get the fluid into the switch.
