That's one heck of a distributor! What is that thing?? Nits got some serious guts to it!
My guess on the wire you pictured, and it's just a guess, is something to do with the diagnostics.... Perhaps an RPM sender for the diagnostic plug??
But, what do I know! I'm sure Gary, Alcupolco, or Ron will set me straight! Lol
Great looking work on your paint! Makes me wanna yank my starter and clean it up! Lol |
The distributer is off of a Suzuki samari 1.0L. My grandfather gave it to me for Christmas a long time ago. I made it work, but I may end up switching to a 019 eventually. _________________ What I lack in brains, I make up for with good intentions. |

i got distracted and bought a 1988 VW Fox. this is the newest car i have ever bought lol. for the first time in 4 years, my daily driver has air conditioning and a radio
after a couple of crazy weeks, i managed to paint/assemble everything. i used the Rustoleum Engine Enamel for the black parts and Rustoleum Hammered-look for the rest.
an extra sump was added along with new pushrod tubes and oil filter/pump assembly.
i still need to button up a couple of things (throttle cable, coil, etc). before anyone freaks out, i left the contact patch on the alternator unpainted. i even left some bare metal on the gen stand where it bolts to the case that way i get a good ground.
fun times _________________ What I lack in brains, I make up for with good intentions. |

This project isn't dead lol. It's been awhile since I've done a project update. I've been super distracted by other VW and non-VW projects. Between flipping a Rabbit and an S10, I've gotten more $$$ for the Thing budget.
Here she is after media blasting...and yes, it's as nasty as it looks lol
I got her home and went to town with Master Series Metal Prep. Obvious I need to shoot some epoxy primer sooner rather than later.
Getting her off the trailer by myself was sketchy
finally on the ground on casters!
ya i need to clean the garage...
Patience is the name of the game. I know it's taking forever compared to most guys, but I'm doing what I can when I can _________________ What I lack in brains, I make up for with good intentions. |

Your project reminds me of mine except your doing a better job!
Here is a picture of my car body upside down with wheel dollies attached to the windshield frame mounts, and to the body near the rear shelf area.
I bent a heavy pieces of aluminum to make angle shapes to mount the rear wheels.
I was able to move the car around to make the rust repairs without killing my back.
I might have stressed the car body a little, however it went back on the pan with no issues.
Keep up the good work!

I am sorry for the late reply!
After I put the the wheels on the body, and it was free of the pan all the way
around myself and three others carefully flipped the car upside down.
The car body is not that heavy.
We had a family get together at our house and I picked three of the strongest men!
Once it was upside down on my garage floor it was easy for me to roll around by myself. |
