Head bolt near cylinder number 3 is loose and nut will not tighten. How do I repair or replace?

BTW,
Engine is still in and I've just gone through valve cover and removed rocker arms.
Reliable mechanic heard the engine and said to check head bolts.

you need to either tear it down and fix the threads in the case or find a cheater stud with the self tapping end on it....then it's generally a 1 time deal and your case may be junk after the "fix"

8 or 10 mm studs? if 8, #3 should have been deep studded to help prevent this.

when I say tear it down, I mean split the case

Sounds like the stud pulled. You might be able to find a self tapping stud that will drive into the case and hold for a while. I had this happen back in 1983
