I only know of three different styles of Type 3 Side Air Scoops the style above which are Fiberglass construction made by Karman, another style that were smaller which were more of a plastic material and the ever elusive Metal Air Scoops that match the Front Fresh Air Scoops, Formula Vee VoA Accessory.
*As far as NOT sought after, because you can't find them.
The Karman Scoops above are on my Squareback and I get compliments all the time and asked... "Where can I get a Pair"? and I reply "Good Luck" search theSamba.
I've seen pairs go for between $50. & $150.
The Metal Scoops were made by Magna, which are very "Hard to Aquire", I have a pair on my Fastback and paid dearly for them but you NEVER see them available.
I'm sure if they were available you would see them more often on Type 3's, all versions are quite a unique accessory.
Lets see some photos of Type 3's with Side Air Scoops !

Found this Ad in a 1972 & 1973 J.C. Whitney Auto Parts Catalog for the Type 3 Side Air Scoops.
So that's who Sold Them?
