Calling syncro guru's out here, have a grinding, clunking
Vibration upfront of the van. Happens as soon as I drive it
Low speed 10k/hr so parked her right away.
I've checked the usual suspects.
Wheel bearings, steering rack, bushings, Suspension parts,
CV's all good. I noticed a slight "play/movement" on the driv
side inner cv where it connects to the diff. About 1/16 play
from the diff flange (not sure if that's the term). I assure it's not
Coming from the axle or cv joint. I can see the diff flange move
When I wiggle the joint. Checked the pass side it's rock solid.
1. How bad is it?
2. Any good place to get used rebuilt or get it rebuilt? I'm in
Vancouver Canada.
3. Or is this normal? I didn't think so.
Thanks for any help..
I'll try to get the vid.

Slop in the carrier bearing is not good. But good on ya for finding that. Did you drain your oil, look at the drainplug magnet?
Mine made some noise when the big nut at the end of the axle stub came loose. I thought it was a wheel bearing but took it all apart anyway (and wheel bearings were fine). This nut being loose ruined the hub though. I have not heard of this problem much (ever) but might as well check your nuts! I think it's 250 ft lbs. _________________

There is a good used one located in Canada in the classifieds. No affiliation with the seller. I paid about the same. I can't paste the link from my iPhone. _________________ ☮️ |

Drain the oil and show the magnet.
A little play on the passanger side is normal. |

Well.. I solved my problem👊🏼!
Just about to drain my front diff and thought
of checking my rear cvs and brakes.
Found that both of my rear brakes were done!
It's literally no ceramic pads left and a few broken
pieces still attached to the shoes.
Luckily I have a new set of Zimmerman drums and
Shoes and fluid, just had to track down a set of Ate's
locally. Now she's running like a champ again👍🏼.
Still have to change my front and rear diff oil.
The old drums must'a been warp or something
That causes the van to shake in low speed.
Hard to tell..but she's fix for now.
Thanks again for the suggestions.
Off camping ⛺️ tomorrow. |

Well that's a LOT better. I don't hear of front diffs going bad. Just make sure it has oil in it (clean oil).
Now that you've solved that topic, where are you camping? This weekend is Memorial day in the USA, it's the inaugural camping weekend and the freeways get so crowded you might just camp there. _________________

Thanks for doing a follow up with the solution. It would be helpful if more people did the same. |
