He sent me some pics...

~90% done
Found out it was a double door panel. |
That's good at least. If he makes it a complete and correct looking double-door Barndoor Deluxe it could be interesting, if completed, even though it's a custom. |
Here are some pics of what I think is the bus being discussed, found them in the classifieds today. Member dino cruz

Awesome! What month or first few of the vin? I noticed it has the "later" control knob locations, walkthrough mat trim, etc. for pressed bumpers. |

Interesting.. Do you have the more oval shaped slotted hole like the one at the top of this picture? Yours might have been hacked for a larger bracket similar to the one below.

yes it has the rounded early style holes and the pressed bumper brackets were bent to mount the late front bumper, the rear still has the pressed bumper brackets and what looks to be a stiffener for a factory trailer hitch |

I do not know, but it has a flat decklid and ribbed air box..The vin plate and numbers area are gone.. I do not remember where my friend sold the front clip to..He is sick about cutting up this bus though..We talked about this yesterday.. |
I may be able to narrow this down somewhat. Some years ago my dad and I picked up a red walk through section in Cullman and took it with us to deliver to someone at Bulli Brigade. I believe that person was from Florida.
I can ask my dad if he remembers if anyone is still interested. _________________ All he needed was a wheel in his hand and four on the road.

Just found this thread and wanted to ad my 58' walk thru panel. Still need to order a birth certificate for it and figure out what month it was made and where it was delivered. Found this thread looking for info on the protection plate over the heater, choke, and fuel reserve knobs. Enjoy!

Nice!... original safaris & driver's side fat base mirror arm.
If you post the VIN... can tell you what month it was made... probably very close to the build date. _________________ aka: Evan

I will post it later when I get home. I have since replaced the turn signal switch with a black commercial one. Slowly getting its parts back to the correct stuff and fixing its broken bits. Maybe you can educate me on the mirror arm? Fat base was special for these busses? |

Maybe not all '58 had them... but some did. I don't think a definitive changeover date has been established. I saw in the linked thread that someone's Sept. '58 had them.
So, apparently early/mid-'59 up had the tapered concave base
'59 also started having side mirrors with the part number in the base of the stanchion. Earlier side mirrors didn't have stamped numbers.
