Skim...this is the one I bought.
https://www.jbtoolsales.com/cal-van-tools-94800-universal-hub-puller/
I love it,as long as you can get the bolts threaded into the lug holes...then your good.
Never needed a BFH, but for sure have used a breaker bar on it to get it going.
Not worried about the brake hardware either on most of the ones I have used it on...all rusted crap hardware anywho _________________ 1959 mango-trailerbus

Absolutely. I had to pull a drum yesterday, and did just that:

Hi Clara, That Kukko tool is top notch but the only one for sale at the moment is $450 was it a factory tool that was available to the public? _________________ GFK

I don't really know.
I expect it was available like other specialty VW/ Porsche tools. I know that independent shops had Matra engine stands, and wheel bearing wrenches etc, and imagine that a tool dealer would sell them a Kukko puller if they wanted to buy one. I don't know how much the general public bought these tools, but the tool dealers were and are in business to sell tools.
Greg had bought the ring style puller before and the Kukko volcano puller is much sturdier. The ring style worked, don't get me wrong. It's just not as stout as the Kukko volcano puller.
I have not used the three armed puller linked by others that likes the longer lug bolts. It looks easier to tote around than the Kukko puller, but I can't imagine it's sturdier.
The three armed puller is more available though. |

I made this from a old wheel adapter, and it worked very well. Albert

If some one has one of these I can fab this in my shop if there is interest. That is not a 450 dollar item. Gougers suck. _________________ .ssS! |

It sold.
In 15 years that's the fourth one I have found and it's the third one I sold for $425. The fourth one is not for sale.
If you don't like the price feel free to move along, or find a cheaper one, no need to call anyone names because you are unfamiliar with the value of certain hard to find tools. |

good tools are expensive. I think that the brand new kukko bearing puller is around $500. I doubt that the drum puller would be much less than $400 if it was still available new. I would not sell any of my brake drum pullers unless I had a spare of that exact same style.
now some serious drum puller porn.

Lol Greg I didn't even know that was yours that was for sale! Learned a lot on this thread. I didn't know there were so many variations. _________________ GFK

I have no idea what market price on rare tools is. I do know what it costs to fab stuff. There isn't a big enough market to make money making these, but if I can pay for some hours in slack time building tools at cost and make the tools less rare, and help people bust off drums, I'm in. _________________ .ssS! |
