Hi folks!
I am new to the forum, but I have been a proud Thing owner since 2004 or so.
Here is my '74. It currently lives in South Carolina (far away from my home in Brooklyn) but I still get to drive it a few times each year.

Posting some pics of my '73 military edition Thing that I bought in Germany in '95, drove to Ancona, Italy, ferried it to Cesme, Turkey then drove to Incirlik, Turkey. Shipped it to Okinawa, Japan and repainted it there. Sold it to an Okinawan in '99 and then it faded away...
Here is a video of it going from camo to white:

Oh, ok! Make sense... Was more easily there than on the place were they were after 1974...

I joined the Thing club on Saturday. She has a 2056 motor and rancho trans with a close ratio Gene Berg shifter....What a fun car to drive! This car doesn't need anything, the previous owner really upgraded this car nicely and took great care if it. My only upgrades will be to install a smaller steering wheel and maybe retractable 3-point belts(lots info about that in the 181 forum).
