brush on a thin layer of Owatrol. it's similar to lineseed oil but made specifically for that purpose. A friend of mine uses it on his og paint ( and surface rustina) 1940 Plymouth. redoes it every second year. Most important is to keep the layer thin so it will dry off completely and not staying sticky. _________________ Hotrods, Fords, Veedubs and Triumph Twins !

Update time!!
Since my last update I made an executive decision to get some extra help on my bus after realising there was no way I could get it done in time for the international Vintage Volkswagen Show in Hessisch Oldendorf which is my true goal for building this bus.
So I called upon my good friend and colleague Tom Clarke and asked him how busy his diary was....... The answer I got was F*****g rammed mate!!
Great now my bum really was starting to twitch, however with some gentle persuasion (mainly pleading and promises of beer and pizza) Tom said he would help me out and squeeze it in between jobs and do some late nights.
Tom runs a Volkswagen repair workshop called Clarkes Automotive and its about 20 miles away from me so getting the bus there was no problem at all.
I've worked alongside Tom now for around 10 years and his work is spot on and his knowledge of vintage wv's seems endless!
Here is a couple of photos of my bus when it arrived at Clarkes Automotive.
And a couple of links to Toms Facebook and Instagram feeds if your interested in cheking out what he does
https://www.facebook.com/Clarkesautomotive/
https://www.instagram.com/clarkesautomotive/
I'll put up some more info of the work carried out over the next few days whenever I get time.
Cheers
Jeff. _________________ http://jcweldingservices.co.uk/

Unbelievable thread! I see the sheen on the roof. What did you end up using to protect the patina?
Keep up the good work! _________________ 69 Sunroof Deluxe - Montana Red/Cloud White (Sold)

This is insane. I had to go back to page 1 to see again how it looked before and still can't believe it... The result looks awesome
Congratulation |

Cheers guys
The roof was freshly painted, I intend to dull this down at a later date.
Before taking the bus to Tom I dragged the new wiring loom in but left it all loose to allow for adjustment.
First job was to get the dash pod/controls working, I was given 2 control panels with the bus which were both tatty and worn which is to be expected of used parts of this age, the plan was to make one good out of the two.
Perfect!! _________________ http://jcweldingservices.co.uk/

Next up for Tom was fitting the engine which was kindly gifted to me from my mate Matt Fahy who is restoring a bus himself and fitted a new engine into his build so the 1776 was up for grabs
After a few phone calls with Tom we decided not to move the fuel tank as many others do when fitting a larger engine with twin carbs, instead Tom sourced some smaller inlet manifolds and also much shorter pancake filters so no need to move the tank over or cut the spare wheel tray.
The tinware then had to be notched for the linkage to work as the carbs were much lower than before
Nice job if I do say so myself!!
then solid fuel lines fitted where possible
Tom then gave the engine a check over
And then fit
And thats about as far as we have got not long now untill HO17 but I'm feeling pretty good about it being ready. _________________ http://jcweldingservices.co.uk/

So the AGA bus now moves under its own steam for the first time in approximatley 55 years and with most of the mechanical work complete I dragged it back to my workshop as Tom was on vacation and wanted to make the most of any downtime.
The jobs list while Tom was away was.
Fit pop outs in and bolt on any other little bits like the mirror arm.
Make some seat bases.
Sound proof and insulate.
And start building a camping/weekender interior.
The bus is now back at Toms for the finishing touches and a few modifications. _________________ http://jcweldingservices.co.uk/

have you ever checked out Johnathan Ward's Icon Derelict youtube channel?
you might like it.
i like his "derelict" series of 1950s american cars. He also did a bus, but it was just okay...
love your bus, cool pics, too _________________ regards
