Free camping near Morehead City, NC?

I'm big into scuba diving and from Washington D.C. Morehead City, NC is one of the best places to go. However, all of the camping there seems to be paid campgrounds and the even the Walmart has no overnight parking. Therefore, I am reaching out to you all for any ideas?
