This is a copy of this thread https://www.facebook.com/anton.aircooled with full information. Because I cannot find some photos here of Kiev`s KdF, maybe somebody clear it? _________________ VW Käfer (Vocho), First registration date in Deutschland: 14/09/1984, Engine 1200.

Echo of WW2: One of ~500 KdF Typ82E "Kommandeurwagen" forgotten in Russian North Karelian Forest...

the flickr account that image comes from appears to locate it in sweden, are you sure it's a wartime car and not "just" one of the many nordic-abandoned vws?

The picture from the flickr in question was taken in Vastmanland and is indeed in Sweden (it's near famous and has been featured many times).
I have no doubt that many WW2 Era VW's made their way to Russian and former Eastern Bloc counties, but 500 Type 82E's in the Karelian Forrest?? LOL
There are countless pictures in this thread that have NOTHING at all to do with Russia. He's just finding pics of famous Nordic rescues and putting Russia on them, as if we haven't been reading this forum for ummm 10+ years.

003695 is the serial number for a mid year 1941 Kübelwagen (although later Kübelwagens have the 2 prefix on the chassis number plate, early ones did not), there also appears to be one Kübelwagen right rear quarter panel in the pictures. Maybe a Wehrmacht dump?

Thanks for these interesting photo's, wherever they come from. It's like unearthing dinosaur remains, and makes our rusty restoration projects more 'do-able' compared with what we see here. |

I found it interesting that in all of the posts on this subject that nothing was mentioned of the fact that the first 50 VW's manufactured/assembled under the British Army were sent to the UdSSR. Information and photographs on this is available at the VW museum. Harry |
