any one had luck changing door hinges. i have a 63 square, needs a new driver door, has 3 bolt hinge. hard to get. someone not too far away has a door 2 bolt with the middle barrel in the right place and i think the right size. can the pins be knocked out and the hinge on the car side be swapped? |

If you search in the classifieds, you can find hinges to convert to a later door with a 2 bolt hinge. Some later doors (68 and later I believe) have different outside handles. There may be other differences as well. |

Was it easy to get the hinge pins out? On Type 1 they are sometimes very difficult to get out. |

The pins on this door came right out.
Now I am having trouble getting the old door off the car to complete the change. |

The old door was junk but I did get the door off and the pins removed.
Next is assembly.

WOW, you got lucky in that both doors were set up similar to make the swap easier. Even the colors are close. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Here is a picture of the doors from the outside and the good door with the hinge pins ready to be pressed the last little way in.

Should there be a washer between the 2 hinge parts, as shown in the picture?

The two hinge door had washers but not the three hinge. I put washers in the the hinge pieces I put on because they were a little loose.
The best part I found to help get the hinges to come a part was that a flywheel dowel pin fits right down the hole to get the pin to start coming out. |

These are the only screws I could find. Does anyone know where to get older type 3 door screws?

Check with ISP West. They have both early allen head bolts and later screws. |

I looked on ISP West and the screw looked the same as the ones I got at the hardware store here. Need washers to cover the same surface area. |

Another option is the little bolts/screws that hold the drum to the hub on 66 to 73 models. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

That's literally the exact same part - same part number.

I bought flanged bolts because I got tired of the internal hex stripping out - I test fit one but haven't swapped them over yet.

McMaster has a flanged internal hex that's close but the flange is 18mm dia. where the original is 15.5mm dia.

Yeah, my son used some m8's from a Ford Taurus to bolt his doors on. They have a flange and have a 10mm head (cap screw). _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
