A tin top westy with a sunroof is a damn cool and very usable bus.

Recently found 75-80% restored '78 AZ bus in MI in retired gentlemen's underground bunker garage!

...and the sunroof works too!!

Sweet! Lets see some more pics of this beauty. I've always wanted a nice functioning sunroof bus with a full length roof rack that has a cut out for the sunroof Cool

I found this jewel yesterday, I couldn't bring myself to even make an offer seeing that they were asking $2300.

The "smudgyness" around the fresh air intakes indicate why it's sporting a Weber carb.

70 westy tin top. Parts for my other 70 or fixup, im thinking about it. It has salvage title. Deer hit at 55, insurance cashed in and then parked since 2002.
Really odd cut outs on the roof there are about 4 cutouts and metal still there and sealed, so odd. You can see one on the passenger side pict. Volvo seats, fold down rear bed is original and works as well as table, the other paets are home made. Dash and everything looks good. Rust is minimal, 2 spots lower pass rear fender and a spot just right of engine lid.
it has disc brakes from late bus added. Has the westy plates and calif rv plate.
Motor oil looked nice, turns over ok, its a dual port, op said it was rebuilt by wolfgang. I cant wait to check compression, drain the tank and change oil and see if she will run as right now its a mystery motor. Probably paid too much at 2k, but adding parts up and having extras i think ill be ahead if i do part it.

That looks too good to be a parts bus to my untrained eyes. I see little rust from this distance, and the nose is replaceable isn't it?

I can identify one of the mystery cutouts in the roof. The one above the sliding door was the vent penetration for the original Westy sink.

X2 on saving it. Gerson now sells correct nose skins to make it like new again. $750 shipped to your door.

Today was the first true experience of mine since my life consisting of Volkswagen that I felt like I truly was found by something, and that was an O.G. Westfalia tent. (yeah, I mentioned this already in my bus thread, but I’m stoked!)
Not bad for nearly 50 years...

Thanks guys! Super pumped to have landed one.
RBurn,
SAVE that bus. Don't strip her down, theres ample potential for someone to "strip down" in it!
Dennis,
Its nice to win every once in a while.

I agree, i did get the pink and its clean calif title, it was actually in a non op status. I could flip it if i get a 68 westy popup instead.

I picked up a 71 fusebox for it as the orange one is broke for it so ill get it running soon.

Enjoy!

I found this cloth Westy stool at my local flea market today. I believe it's a 1973 only stool according to quick research I've done on this site. There is some discoloration on the cloth cover, but it seems like it may clean up...the strap is still there too.

Great find. Now make sure you know how to set it up. Very Happy The plastic hooks don't actually hook on to the bars. They go around the bars and then hook back in the hole on the tent. You'll break the hooks the way you have it set up. Search for some pictures if my explanation doesn't make sense. Love those tents.
