Rail buggy. 1600dp 12v Generator.

Everything was charging fine, took the fan shroud/generator off as well as the intake to work on another issue.. put it all back together and now the Generator light is on and its not generating power.

I triple checked the wiring. Its correct. One thing to note is I do not have the direct Ground wire on the generator. Should it ground through the generator stand? I wasnt paying attention to how clean that area was when I put it back together.

I re-polarized the generator, but still not getting voltage from the generator when checking with a multimeter. With the multimeter on the 12v setting its only showing .1-.3 volts. Where as the battery clocks 12+.

Any ideas? Is my generator done for? I just dont get how it was working fine but now doesnt work?

Added some pictures of the wiring to my google folder.. D+ to D+, DF to DF. 61 to idiot light (not shown in picture, stray yellow wire). B+ straight to battery +. No signs of a broken wire.

Pictures at bottom:

I made a jumper from DF to the generator body and used a 10ga wire from D+ straight to battery positive to polarize. Used the same DF jumper and multimeter (positive to D+, neg to generator body) to check generator voltage. On showed .1-.3 volts even when reving above idle.

Is the regulator mounted somewhere or is it just hanging out in space?

To me what you have pictured looks like an older style regulator and not a newer solid state one so it should have relays inside which will need a ground connection in order to work properly. The mounting bolt holes provide the ground path for it, so if its not grounded its not going to work.

Check and clean all of the connections, ground as well as power really well, the ground ones tend to get overlooked often and will cause just as many headaches. Hopefully that will get it going again.

Regulator is mounted under the fuel tank. I unmounted it for pictures and to make sure it was wired correctly.

Ill double check the wiring and clean uo the generator stand to ensure it has a good ground.

Anyone have pictures or a diagram of the inside of the generator? What connects to the other side of the posts? Could a wire have broken inside?
