I just installed a new release cable with knob, cable tubing, latch, cable tubing, and the cable tube anchoring sleeve. However, when pulling the knob, the tube pulls through anchor tube keeping the cable from pulling. The tube should be secured to the anchoring sleeve instead of going through it. Is there any way to secure the plastic tube to the anchoring sleeve without it pulling through it. 1971 Ghia Convertible

I think your best bet would to find a little washer that will fit in the latch sleeve to reduce the opening

I'm sure you've figured it out by now, but for others who may be doing this in the future: the anchoring sleeve crimps onto the plastic tubing. You can use a wire crimp tool. Note that the wide part of the cable by the handle won't fit through the plastic tube so the plastic tube has to be pushed into the anchoring sleeve before it is crimped.

I don't think the cable in the engine compartment is adjusted right as the pull should only be about 1" so if the plastic sleeve is moving with the cable it shouldn't come out of the housing. It's always safest to adjust the cable with the motor out so you can get at the adjuster with a locked hood if it won't open.

You may want to consider a security system to ensure you can open the rear hood if the cable release malfunctions or the cable snaps. What I did was to cut a slot in each of the bolts so that I can undo the latch from under the car using a screwdriver.
