I'm just scratching the surface. Im presently debating weather or not to go further than the long block.

Heads and P/C will come off to clean, but Ill probably leave the short block. I did drive it and it did have lots of power - so Im thinking its good for now. Cool

Tomorrow - heads off, dump the oil and clean the block.

On to some of the dirty action again. Puled the heads and P&S off. Nice crusty accumulation of bad rings and to much gas. Rolling Eyes I guess the positive side is its actually a 1500 S.

Ill put some new rings on for sure and hone the pistons. Clean all this carbon crap off and freshen the whole top end. Just a big dirty MoFo. It doesn't need to be like this. Evil or Very Mad

Just don't forget that bit of tinware and the bolts for the oil cooler ahead of the cylinder installation like I manage to do every now and then.......

I was pleasantly surprised when found it on. It even had a thermostat hooked up with all the bits. Laughing

So I have the opportunity to change the heads around as needed. The B's came on the 1500 S motor Im cleaning up. I assume the valves are slightly bigger? I cant remember and wanted to see if any of you knew the pros and cons to these?

Ok time to slap it back together. Ten pounds? Maybe more of crap I took off this motor in bad paint, crust, rust, crap, gummy oil stuff. Just a bad deal over all. So here are some boring shots.

P&S honed and new rings put on. Cleaned the push rod tubes of some hanious shit on them. Found a couple OG VW tubes Cool Super 1500 Plate - Super Cool Laughing Then I just started to dress as normal.

Amazing when you hold onto everything. Then you can dip into it and find a big ass wavy washer.

How did you get that finish on the generator? Also, could you expand on what you’re using for the wafer washers on the generator posts? That thing looks immaculate.

It is immaculate as I sent it out to make 65 volts instead of 25-30. Read further back to see who I farmed out.

Looks like someone forgot to install the oil cooler bolts BEFORE they put the cylinders on. Embarassed Laughing

Looks good otherwise. Very Happy

What is that oil pump cover actually for? I think 356sc. I've had a few. I wouldn't use it for that motor...
