Is that a hand crank pulley on that engine? |
Yes. It also has an extra pulley welded to the crank pulley to run a pump for the sprayer. These are VW industrial engines from the early 70's. They used early bay transmissions, too.
Here's a Spray Coupe of that vintage...

While visiting California I invited myself to Clatter's place in Santa Cruz Tcash joined in the shanangins. Clatter and his family are fantastic people and couldn't be any more welcoming. Clatter treated me like a brother and took time to educate me on silly questions I had regarding the internal workings of an air cooled engine. He's got a great shop with plenty of eye candy For all you Tcash fan boys like myself, Tcash is the genuine article. Just as nice and cool as you'd expect. Listening to those two talk ACVWs and Motorcycles was amazing. I'm a lucky dude to have been in the presence of such knowledgeable and more importantly, great humans. Thanks for the hospitality brothers
Clatter's 76 Westfalia with a local IPA
Tcash' Hightop with a Space Dust IPA from The PNW
I brought the beer of course and covered all bases
Clatter handled the grill

Pretty cool to have two legends of the Bay Bus Forum,
Xevin,
And the Man Himself TCash,
Both by my humble compound for some libations..
Chris (Old DKP) was out of town,
And mystery guest TwinFin ended up on a boat far out to sea.
Had a good time geeking out on car parts in the old shoperoo for sure.
Good people, no doubt! _________________ Bus Motor Build

I'm currently run a transaxle from a combine, I bought it for $450 from a member on this site. The code says it's a '73, I've had no issues and have put 40k on it in 6 years. _________________ __________

You might be rewarded. Cheers NYCynthia. You are one cool beer goddess. Glad I met you.

Can't recall if I posted this here already. This is my 68 single cab parked behind my north fence. Those are hops bines growing to about 14' tall. There is another one just at the far right edge of the photo.

Just a heads up. Otter Creek Brewery has replaced their head brewer Dave Gearhardt (sp?) about 6 months ago. So it appears as if the Bay Window theme of their beer line up is disappearing. They have removed the Bay Window labels on 2 of there mixed bag 12 pack seasonal offering. So buy it now before the bay is phased out. Maybe I'm wrong, but at least your aware. ---Randy--- |
