Well you need a correct year engine lid and latch. What you have now was used up into 1965. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

This is the inside on the rear valance so matches up to the latch. So looks like I have an earlier latch on my 66.. what would you call the button that sits on the outside that I'm missing?

From the 1965 Owner's Manual, you can access thru the "Technical" Button at upper right.

Looks like you will need a new latch since the part the handle goes into is cracked. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

I've now removed the latch. This is what I have. The white bit that the screwdriver is pointing to is missing bits, does this mean I need a whole new latch? Thanks for the Info, it's much appreciated.

Good. Old one was probably tore up like that by using a flat tip screwdriver as a norm. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

Probably was horrible crusty and gummed up. They should be very easy to turn. Oil it at every 3K mile service.
Soaking the replacement in a coffee can of engine oil for a few days makes it move quite nicely.
FWIW, with church key decklid, there is nothing that sticks out from the lid. There were no missing bits. Though there is a little chrome cover that often fell off, and you can buy a repro for about $15.
Chruch key decklid is not stock on a 66 bus. Though you can bolt one on. |

Can you post an image of the RH side of the opening and the mounting point of the arm that holds the lid open? Kind of like the last image on the OM page posted above. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

To help the OP figure out which years of lid and arm/prop that he has. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

Oh, I thought you wanted to know what that part of a 66 bus looked like, just from your question. |
