I see some used Muir manuals on the 'net.......
The latest edition is #19 - when was it published?
Is it necessary to own the latest?
I'm not cheap, just thrifty Laughing

John Muir died so any update after say '79 really isn't an update anyway.
I like the spiral bound ones, they're easier to use.
Don't us it for technical data, but use it for how to do it if you don't have a clue.
Back in the '70's it's how I started working on VW's.
3 days left on this one for $4.25 and zero bids

If you already know how to work on cars, then just get the Bentley Manual.

I recently watched a You Tube video on John Muir. He was quite the character.

I have his book and use it on a regular basis. The one thing I find lacking with his book is diagrams/photos. I'm more of a visual learner and photos help me a lot.

Please understand those 2 manuals will help you take it apart and put it back together and keep it running. I would not trust the torgue specs or other critical measurements listed in the books.

What books do you recommend? I also use the above books but am always looking for more reference material.

I use the Bentley manuals. I have had one since 1981. I have three I use, the Blue, Green and Orange manuals. (Correspond to different types of VWs).
