I've seen a few posts lately where members admit to having multiple user names, isn't this frowned upon? & what's the penalty?

It might be they lost the password or stopped using the email linked to the last one. It is frowned upon though.

Yes, this is not uncommon and a lot of times it's the reason above - they forgot their login or their email changed so they simply created a new account.
If they contact me I can combine them together and as a bonus you get the Join date of the oldest account, which a lot of people like so they look like a longer-term member.
If you suspect you have another account, email me with any possible emails you may have used in the past and I can check and combine them together into the one you want to use.
