Another question. Some of the metal clips I removed had what looked like a small, squished, o-ring under them. Is that from VW? _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

51 small O-rings shouldn't be hard for me to find either. _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

Wonder if you need the o rings with plastic clip? I asked but no reply yet. Maybe you could call one of the retailers we trust or the vendor itself.
Do your metal ones look like these? They have a raised area in the center perfect for an o rig.

Gary, my buddy says no O rings with the plastic clip. Coincidentally he's a former airplane mechanic (Airforce) like yourself. _________________ Keep on Busin'

Great, thanks Kev
Just dropped the bus at the paint shop. Makes me nervous leaving it there. Crossing fingers. _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

Nothing to worry about. I'm sure they know how to find reverse and know not to move it around using tie rods _________________ Keep on Busin'

Update:
I've gotten my bus back from the paint shop and installed the belt line trim. The plastic clips were fine. I used small sheet metal screws (stainless). It was $60 to buy the clips which require 51 total so that's three sets of twenty.
