What's a good item to cover that old electrical box hole on the face of the rear seat?
Mine is gone as well, which is great as I have yet to ever camp somewhere that had shore power. I just can't decide on something that would be useful and look good in this spot. |

What I did for her today is park her and took a cab to work. Smelled gas when I walked past toward the drivers door, checked engine compartment and saw no obvious residue.
Started her and checked again. i can hear what sounds like a spray at the left carborator. Guess I'll be getting in there to sort it out this evening. Hoping it's a quick fix, like adjusting a break line. Good thing the parts stores are nearby! _________________ '74 Bay - ASI camper body w/'72 Bay - undercarriage and a '76 2000cc rebuilt engine

I welded on it for the first time. Me and Harbor Freight make a frightening combination. But it got done after JB weld didn't hold.

Find another good Bryant electrical box and get some juice going inside! _________________ The Bus Barn Ltd. Co.

Check how easily these old ¿fuel? lines crack! These are from the fuel injection. |
Which is sadly why so many fuel injected buses burn due to lack of preventative maintenance. |
Just put in all new fuel lines this week. PO said he did it before I got the bus...ya, that puddle of gas in the parking lot says he didn't... _________________ 1971 Type 2 - Westfalia - https://vw-type2-id.xyz/mplate/12207380

Back to stock height, rebuilt stock beam, new Konis etc. Sold all the WagonsWest bits and wheels/tires to a friend. Was time for a change. Liking the new stock look better! Still need to put the reflectors on the front doors though!

Please don't post the same question in multiple threads.
This thread is for people that have recently done work on their Bus.
If you are not getting responses in the other thread. Quote your question and bump it too the top.

Last weekend I stripped and painted my temporary EMPI exhaust with VHT Flameproof spray paint.
Stripping the paint was the hardest.. I used a steel wool and some paint remove from home depot. Sanded it down all over with a rough grit so the paint sticks better (hopefully). Painting was easy but the curing process of the VHT paint takes a long time.
After the paint drys you have to bake the parts in an oven to cure the paint(if the engine isn't running yet).

From the PO leaving brake fluid container tucked in by the brake reservoir i knew it had a leak. I pulled all the wheels off to get them sandblasted and powdered coated and i could see some dampness on the drivers side drum. What a mess. New wheel cylinders and shoes, went on to passenger side and shoes were dry, had myself convinced to change shoes only but when i removed the shoes i could see some fluid on shoe where it rides inside the cylinder rubber boot. Went ahead and replaced both wheel cylinders as well. Had to pick up some 6 point tools. Next post will be the pc rims and new shoes.

600 would be rough enough. Paint molecules are pretty small.

I just did this exact job (same exhaust) a few weeks ago. I used rustoleum grill paint though.
But man, next time give this stuff a try. It worked like a champ at stripping paint, and I was literally just wiping the paint off: https://www.amazon.com/Citri-Strip-QCG73801T-Varnish-Stripping-1-Quart/dp/B000QFCP1G _________________ 1977 Standard Beetle -Sold-

Wow, I saw that at home depot here but thought it was too big to buy since I'd only use a bit. Anyways the graffiti remover I used works wonders...
The thing is the exhaust wouldn't stay wet long enough to get soaked since it was so hot out (evaporate before being effective). _________________ 1972 Westfalia P30 hardtop Campmobile [On-going Restoration]
