I'm assuming this is the Prep & Etch right UZI?
I want to clean my bumpers and use as is for a while or if I don't like them prime and paint. Also I have a second set of door window frames that I would rather use which are OG paint but I was originally going to use CLR but Ospho was suggested. Now I'm not sure what to use. I posted the CLR & Oshpo here see below, and I would love your suggestion as to which of the 3 I should use first 1. Prep & Etch, 2. CLR or 3. Oshpo. Your new Westy is hot hot hot, congratulations and maybe we'll meet up camping

linda, the stuff i used is called "prep etch" and t's sold at home depot. 5 parts water, one part prep etch. i used a 16oz measuring cup, five of those and one cup of prep etch. that was plenty to go til i couldn't take it any more.
here are some interior shots. there are more in my gallery. the more i look at this bus and explore it, the more impressed i am
full set of curtains
both sconces
noice passengers side beamed salt n pepper backrest
dash is noice. i had an NOS washer bottle button somewhere, hasnt shown up yet. door cards are on order from clara. seat covers are coming from wolfsburg west
floors are solid
everything moves as it should. at this point i'm not touching the wood paneling.

that's the stuff. i think it's stronger than CLR. i used it straight with a bucket, sponge and hose nearby to neutralize it. my rust was especially heavy. get a few packs of grey 3M pads too for scrubbing. _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle

I don't think that bus is a '67 unless it's super early. '67 had plastic. Not sure what year Westfalia started installing the plastic tank but usually that Whale Gusher Pump has the fiberglass tank. '67 has a different pump, too. |

Thanks for clearing that up BarryL, I want to do well on my Split Bus final exams and it doesn't get any better than here for studying.

Thant splitty is straight like an arrow. So Cool. This thread is so awesome, seeing splitties being recued on a great scale is enormous that sends chilling effect to my spine! I have my Splitty '67 bus to drive around with style, but every time I see a Splitty being rescued and brought back to life, I feel so envy that I am longing to owning another Splitty soon! Hahahaha.
Congrats to everyone here who has been giving precious time and efforts to these equally precious Splitties.
Thanks,

Been awhile since I've posted but here's a few in the last few weeks rounded up. Over 70 on the ranch now and school about to start back up. Have about 4 more to go get then may take a break from hoarding. We just have too much as a family cruising around the country so who knows what may pop up next.

Damn I liked that bus what's the plan for it. Kids said they'd cook food again for you at all Prado and dubsplash shows for you. Lol _________________ For lastest finds check out

I found this bus and know nothing about VW's period but couldn't pass it up. I'm not sure if it's worth restoring or parting out? I'm posting here to get help and also do research on this site. And and all info will help considerably. Thanks in advance!!

That's what I'm not sure about. I'm picking it up this weekend hopefully. It's been sitting in that spot for a long time so it's probably bad shape. |
