|
|
My 72 bus has mismatched wiper arms. Passenger side is working great and seems to be part number 211-955-409-b (large nut screws onto the post and holds the wiper arm in position. All good there.
Driver side are does not have the large nut. Post is shorter and the arm stays in position with a small, slightly bent pin. Is this normal/original? Did a previous owner replace the original post or do a hack job to get a different wiper arm mounted?
Currently, the driver side wiper arm is a little floppy. It still, sort of works, but doesn't fit/rub tightly against the glass (so it only wipes in the center of the wiper - the two ends are dangling in the wind) I'd love to do an upgrade. Is there a proper part number out there for a 72 driver side arm... or do I need to replace the post?

Thanks everyone!

Someone has twisted off the threaded section of the LH one and invented a creative hack to keep the arm on, time to hit the classifieds. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

You need a new wiper arm spindle for the driver side. An easy fix once you have the motor and mechanism out. |

Motor and shaft/spindle are not out and tucked securely way up in the dash somewhere. Hmmm... Time to decide if I want to re-jimmy the 'jimmied' fix or fix it the right way.

Remove the radio and the glove box, the wiper unit is easy to see and get out that way. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
