The contrast is awesome! I would consider the time spent by the pool with a few beers part of your planning stage. You executed your plan it well. Applause

It is a Hollandia 400 (electric), purchased and installed by
Sunroof Performers in South Gate - 323-564-5019. They did my headliner at the same time.

Update: ran the car for good run today, road and long freeway speeds with no overheating, freeway temps stayed at 200*F. Top engine temp got to 209*F. Now the bad news, I got those good temps with the engine trunk lid off. Also, I changed my Chinese shitty 009 distributor with a new rebuilt Bosch 010. I doubt if the change in distributor made the temps change. I will have to do something with the engine bay to seal it off. Doesn't help that the Type 1 fan shroud rear opening is only about 8 inches away from the rear exhaust pipe. Sucking up that hot heat is my problem.
On the bright side, at least I can drive the car. Not the best look without the trunk lid off, but the engine prefers it.

Temp sender is installed at the relief plug. I believe that the readings are good, gauge reads 180*F - 185*F when my secondary oil cooler thermostat kicks in. Just in case I am going to install temp sender in the oil line. I want to verify my readings before I start to enclose the engine compartment in.

Update: Installed oil cooler at front of car with oil lines ran through the tunnel. Oil temps are under control and cooler fan only turns on during summer days. Cool

Finally got sheet metal finished in engine compartment. This metal work was high on my list of work for the car when it was being built and just kept on getting pushed. Now time to enjoy the car for the summer and then think about re-spray body again. Most people don't see the flaws but I can see them all Evil or Very Mad

Were you able to seal off the lower and upper of the engine from each other like in the bug?

There are some gaps between motor and tin. So definitely not a tight seal like a bug compartment with all of its seals installed. But should keep temps down and road debris out. I did open up the area below both rear cowl opening to bring in fresh air.

I'd fabricate some deck lid "stand offs" kind of like the bug guys use on their pre 68 bugs (with big motors and not slots in the deck lid).

UPDATE
So back in 2013, when I got the car the original plan was to slam it on bags. My only choice at that time was to fab something, which was not going to happen and not to mention the cost. At that time no one made anything for the IRS rear end for the type 3. Happy to say there is today ( dubonairsuspensions.com ) sells the rear kit that you weld on. I will have to pull the sub-frame out to weld the kit in. For now, I will run bags in the rear and air shocks in the front. Air management will be Air Lift Autopilot V2. Front shocks will be the Monroe MA803, I tried the MA785 but the 803's should give me an extra 1 1/2" rise. The rear torsion bars will be removed and run the long travel conversion kit from appletreeauto.com.

On the front, are you running a T3 beam or bug?

Front will be air shocks with torsion bars for now. Right now I can get 3 inch lift with air shocks with 50 psi. Full system is not in yet so I'm not sure if 3 inches will get me high enough to drive safely. Not sure how much PSI it will take to get high with torsions pushing back on me. In the end I might have to go with floating front with torsion bars ground down. I'm not opposed to air bags in front with Type 3 beam. I have a lot invited in front type 3 beam, don't want to go Type 1.
