I believe some gets lost in translation here... The family has one master lid ... a fresh, old, unfinished, unused Heb lid that was a so-called "master sample" back in the days. The press and/or tool itself is not hiding in an old attic.. It was this master sample that enabled Dr D to produce his fantastic parts.

Great historical site! Check it out, also a few rare pictures of the Radclyffe Roadster, and the link between that car and the production Hebmuller. Very interesting.

The Radclyffe was a one off. No presses were made for it. The press you see in the pictures are for the series production Hebmullers. The Radclyffe lid was made the old way, either by grafting in sheet metal to an original front lid, or from scratch over a wooden buck.

I wrote they still own the painting of the press, not the press itself.
The guy who makes the repro Heb hoods today had to make a new one.

Old topic...
Does anybody have pictures of the engine or know the specifications?
I have a 1946 engine and a dual carb engine from the 40's would be very interesting Smile

regards,
Jan

looks like the coil wire coming off the distributor is going through the fan shroud to the coil mounted on the opposite side of the fan housing. Somewhere I have seen photos of this set up.

Very cool roadster.

I think the engine has the normal specifications except for the carbs and manifolds.
I don't know when they changed, but kdf era and very early post war VW's had the coil mounted on the backside of the fan shroud. Distributor looks like a Bosch 343T with the special cap, but that's all "stock".

Regards,
Jan
