So here I am in monsoon madness and my window regulator seems to be acting up. I'm not so sure that description is accurate given that the window will roll up and down if it stays in the damn roller mechanism.
No sooner do I put the door panel back in place than the window seems to fall off the roller and land at the bottom of the tracks leaving my passengers exposed to a torrential downpour. Takes a decent amount of effort to maneuvre the window past the roller and back on track so how it effortlessly keeps malfunctioning is a friggin mystery.
Does anyone know off hand why this happens? Am I missing a clip or something that keeps the window aligned and on the roller? Any advice is appreciated. _________________ Support Small Business.

I read your entire write up on the window ordeal and found it to be very informative as usual. And now that I look at it again I think I see some light at the end of the tunnel.
I cant but help notice that your lift bar is attached to the vertical rail where the said roller is. My lift bar doesnt appear to be attached to the vert rail. Where you mention having to turn the thing 90degrees to remove the bar, mine just falls free as a rock toward the bottom of the door where 2" of desert dust has accumulated.
Im going to have to review the condition of mine and possibly remove the track and bar for further eval. I wonder if that piece thats going up and down ( im calling it a roller) is actually the little circular section minus the fastener that required you to turn your lift bar before it would free up. Maybe that piece is buried in the dust.
Moving forward on the shoulders of those who've gone before me. _________________ Support Small Business.

Heh, hope that resolves it. If you need a rebuild, Samba member 16cvs (Stacy) has the system down pat at reasonable cost. _________________ 1987 2WD Wolfsburg Vanagon Weekender "Mango", two fully locked 80 Series LandCruisers. 2017 Subaru Outback boxer. 1990 Audi 90 Quattro 20V with rear locking differential, 1990 burgundy parts Vanagon. 1984 Porsche 944, 1988 Toyota Supra 5 speed targa, 2002 BMW 325iX, 1982 Toyota Sunrader |
