Upvoting this. It would be nice to allow that. Since it would be limited to the OP in each case, the risk of vandalism seems low.

The problem for me is with pics that are not explicitly VW related and therefore are not allowed to be hosted on the samba. I always posted my VW stuff here but there are many times when I used a pic that did not show a VW or part in it and it would be deleted from the gallery so I was forced to use an outside host.
It would also be awesome to allow pics to be hosted that were relevant to the topic but not necessarily obviously VW in nature. I understand that could get out of hand perhaps....
And thank you for the offer to update my posts, but there are a bunch to do......

And multiply yours by several others who wish to update their photos (which would be great!) and it becomes a tedious task.
Perhaps Everett can lift the time limit until the end of the year and make an announcement that everyone has until Dec. 31, 2017 to update their forum photo links?

| I have had explicitly VW pictures deleted from the gallery - more specifically VW diesel vanagon engine interior pics. I will never use the gallery again because of that. |

Yes, I could turn it off for a while.
It would good to know how old the posts are as I would prefer to NOT completely turn it off for the entire history of the site.
Example:
I turned off a little while ago for another member a while ago after he uploaded all of his photos into the Samba Gallery but his posts were only a year old.

It seem weird if they were engine images but it's possible a mistake was made.
You could have contacted me and I would have told you to upload them again.
Typically the only crap I remove now is non-VW memes and stupid "funny" photos.
Or completely non-VW images like someone just posted photos of their Jeep and boat a couple days ago.

| I am hoping some sort of arrangement like this can restore links to Russ' files that are in many many threads. Others and I am working on getting them copied and provided to Everett, and then we can maybe plot out the easiest way to make all those links work. It won't be simple. Stay tuned... |

Everett, From my use of this site the policy of not allowing 'any' pics hosted without VW content hurts the samba. There are many times a few trip pics would help enhance a topic but if no VW is there it is deleted. Sooo... someone is the gallery filter. Maybe the general rule could be that a small amount of non VW content is allowed in the gallery if it is relevant to the topic. Abusers can be warned by the gallery mods and if abusive can be censored. That would certainly take care of my concerns and some others that I know of.

I agree and I have been leaving trip pics in place for a while now.
General rule:
Trip pics are allowed as long as they are part of an overall trip with VW content.
The bulk Shows category even includes Trip Pics in the title:
