Anyone ever seen one of these? It is from a 1950 Standard that was a Hoffman delivered car. _________________ New Vintage Specialist.

I have a 1950 August hoffman car my holes are 72mm.
I know a guy who has a hoffman car 60 vin numbers apart there at 72mm also. Tag is a little over 3 inches. Also have a oct. 1950 hoffman car that's at 52mm. The tag is metal. |

I thought I had the only one.
I have a 1950 Hoffman Standard Split and this was the tag behind the spare tire. I took it off and put a metal one on , now I'm hearing other Standards had this type tag. Like a heavy plastic, and the holes are the same as the metal tags.
See when you don't ask.

Interesting... in 1950 they still called it "Germany" and not "West Germany"?
When did it switch? ...and then switch back? Searching the galleries did not make it 100% clear to me. Did it vary by factory or vehicle Type? Was there some lingering nationalism involved? Or was it a matter of law?

I feel that this is another Hoffman trait. Something unique to these cars. _________________ New Vintage Specialist.

I've owned two Hoffman 1950 deluxe splits over the past 50 years. Neither had a plastic plate. _________________ Gone but not forgotten: 1950 Hoffman split (restored in 1966) - another 1950 Hoffman split (restored in 1996) |

The "Made in Western Germany" tags didn't appear until sometime in 1955. _________________ Thanks,

Here is my Hoffman from 9/1/50.
Seems like it has hard plastic instead of a metal rag .
