We're in and possibly some friends from the neighborhood, we're definitely hanging out for the eclipse.
Local lore is, come early leave late, fuel and toilet shortage and every garbage can in Oregon will be over flowing. Come prepared! |

True, but an "invitation" is required. You have to get on the NW MogFest website tell them what vehicle you will bring, and ask for an invitation. It's for older European 4x4s (as in the "fine print"), so if you write "Lifted Chevy 2500 Duramax" you might not get an invitation. It's a family farm, not a commercial moneymaking event. It's old-school, rustic barn, like stepping back inn time. Pretty cool. The farm owner now has an air-cooled 2wd Westfalia Vanagon.
If you get a Syncro this will be an eye-opener for sure. A series of holes and lumps, with Syncros and Mogs diving in and out. The holes are DEEP.
Then the sun goes down, the big "construction light-towers" come on, the beers come out and the course looks like overturning a month-old cow-pie; dung beetles crawling all over it. The real party is in the evening, past midnight, or until the neighbors complain. Its something else!

I go every year but not sure about the days this time.
As mentioned, the eclipse mania may keep us penned in for a bit.
Because of the eclipse, this NW Mogfest could take on an whole different dimension !!! |

Leaving here Thursday morning and was planning on leaving Sheridan right after the eclipse but now that's looking like a guaranteed traffic jam.
I have to work Tuesday so I may be driving through the night Monday! 
I wonder if it will be better to head up the coast from Sheridan?

You're cutting it tight if you have to be at work on Tuesday, Dave.
There will be many at the coast to view the eclipse similar to the valley, mountains and high desert. Anywhere in the main path.
So it's a toss-up on coast or I-5. If it were me I'd do I-5, take it easy, go with the flow, take breaks and maybe a nap at a rest stop in WA before SeaTac, etc. |

I'll be there Thursday evening through Monday. I imagine highway 18 will be a parking lot for a while. Best to just hang at the river for a while.

I'll be arriving Saturday morning (couldn't leave work early) - it will be good to be back at NWMF, haven't been able to attend the last 2-3 years (too much work, again)
