I am following the Haynes restoration manual for bodywork on my 73 bus.
I am looking for an American equivalent to the Bonda rust primer they use for brush application to chassis, wheel wells, etc.

https://marinestore.co.uk/Bonda_Rust_Primer__25_Zinc_250ml.html

I have also considered using 2 part epoxy primer applied with a brush or roller for these areas, but have never tried it.

Thanks for the help.

Depending on what you are actually trying to do....I would not use that type of product......by itself......unless its known that it has rust conversion chemicals in it.

High zinc coatings with no rust conversion acid based chemicals....do not impart anti corrosion properties to the metals you put them on.

Zinc is THE BEST sacrifical anode corrosion preventer there is. However....paints with zinc do not do not work in this sacrifical manner UNLESS they are ELECTROLYTICALLY applied....meaning plated on or literally have intimate electron flow contact....like bolting an anode onto a plate.

Just using zinc "next" to the metal in scattered fashion is like putting a zinc bolt next to the metal and calling it good.

This is not,to say that zinc coatings do not have benefit. The zinc in the coating itself prevents corrosion of itself.

The problem is that unless its 100% zinc....it is made of zinc flakes. It will have spaces between the flakes....so you do not get full anodic protetcion.
Also....if you are putting this over existing rust....it does nothing to kill this rust.

I would either completely remove the rust....and then this ciating or a zinc di-chromate primer will work very well. If it has light rust....use a phosphoric acid converter and then use the high zinc primer of choice. Ray
