I have 1970 beetle put new floor pans in it, when I bought it the pedal assembly was bad put a used one in it. Now I can't get any free play in clutch pedal and I cant loosen the wing nut no more or it will come off. |

The only relationship between the pans and the pedals is the pedal stop. They pedals bolt to the tunnel, independent of the pan.
So maybe the pedal stop is severely misadjusted 9this will mess with your brakes, too), or the hold-down nut was welded in the wrong position (requiring you to lengthen the slot in the stop plate).
I don't know how/if the pedal assembles changed over the years; maybe you have the wrong one now? |

If your pedal assembly and installation are correct, could be adjustment of the pedal stop bracket, or its location in your new pan.
You may need to obtain a longer clutch cable. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each.
