Fit and finish are pretty good for aftermarket but the black mounding needs to be re glued. Need a good strong adhesive |

I used 3m weatherstrip adhesive on part of the door rubber that was detached, pretty strong and flexible stuff. Cover the interior because if you drop some it won't come off the seats. The roof looks like the one I had in mind, when you refurbish it try to locate at manufacturer's logo or stamping. Good luck! _________________ cars:

love the mini-lite rims, are those 15" or 14"? Interesting RH mirror, too. If I'm not mistaken that's a brazilian mirror out of a 80s' or 90s' fusca. not the prettiest of the mirrors IMHO but I've heard it is easier to adjust than the german/mexican type. _________________ cars:

Nice, car and welcome. My '96 was originally registered in Bournemouth.
Do you have a 'CG' registration?
(My car's original UK plate and my new Ontario plate, with the same number):

Johnny, there were several white paint codes used on the Mexican Beetles. You may need to confirm the date of manufacture to determine the code:
01.08.1995 to 31.07.1997: Candy White - B9A
01.08.1997 to 31.07.1999: Polar White - A9B
01.08.1999 to 31.07.2003: Campanile White - R9A
Note that the paint code may be prefixed with an 'L' (for example LB9A).
There may be a hand written sticker behind the spare tire with the paint code. My paint code was written on a piece of masking tape:
I have since cleaned up that area and put on some new stickers. I printed up a new label for the paint code. I couldn't find a light deflection sticker with the same values, not a regulation here, so I just used one from a Golf:

@Johnnyjet:
re the mirror: though not aesthetically, I kind of like that mirror for its weirdness; I've put some brazilian weirdness on my bug, too, i.e. the "nipple" hubcaps from the last series' bay windows:
they were intended as a stopgap quality-made part (taiwan crap-chrome caps kept rusting just by looking at them)till I could find a decent new OEM spec set but this wasn't meant to be as what I could find first was too expensive, then just NLA... but in the end the look grew on me and now I've decided to keep them.
@Dave rail:
welcome, your bug looks really nice, love the stance. Is it RHD-converted? _________________ cars:

Going off the paint codes I looked up my colour and its L A9 B cool-white on a 2001 the interior is supposed to be off black/ Black according to my certificate but for some reason it has the grey interior...
Would like to know the X 9 C country settlement Mexico code stands for Also
Johnny whats you last 6 numbers mine is 903 301 I was just curious how far ahead I was from your car as mine is a 2001

I cant find the actual number. The vin plate behind the driver door is gone, the motor number is acd340888.
So is the paint base coat clear coat? I found the paint code. It's polar white. |

Based on the engine number it should be a 2000:
The original VIN may be stamped in the metal in the trunk area (just above the gas tank).
There is also a production number stamped on the rear apron, trunk area. From that we can determine the exact day of manufacture. For reference, here is the location of the production code on my car:

To decode, the number = WWDXXXX, where WW is the week number of the calendar year and D is the day of the week. XXXX is a sequence number.
If the week number higher than ~32, the car was built in previous calendar year (to the model year, ie after July 31st)
For example, for your 2000 Beetle:
Week 43 = Oct 17-23 1999
Day 3 = Oct 19,
so your car was built on Oct 19 1999. _________________ 1971 Super Beetle (past)

I think I recall reading that the sequence number XXXX was also coded:
The first digit means sedan ('8') and the 080 is a sequence, in your case the 80th car built in week 43.
I can't find where I read that, so maybe someone else could confirm. _________________ 1971 Super Beetle (past)

Well I went for a test run, everything seems to be fine.
One thing though, when I turn the key (engine not running), the brake warning light now comes on. Once I start the engine it goes out. This light has never lit before I did the brake job.
The question, is it supposed to light up with ignition turned on (engine not running), like the oil and battery light? (Which means it wasn't working properly before)
.. or ..
should I check (rebleed?) something else. The pedal seems fine, no sponginess or fade.
|
Its normal situation. This is test of working this electric chain.
When you press down brake pedal on work engine, and you see this light - it is not good present
two conditions to light up when you press pedal on work engine:
1. One of switch is broken / I see this light when some brake rear bulb is down.
2. You have problem with hermetic with brake tubes/hoses, some of two brake system have troubles...
BUT this cases ONLY on started engine (when light is off) and pressed brake pedal. If light doesnt work - it means bulb on lamp damaged, or control lamp microscheme damaged. Here is not just bulb, here 3 microscheme. Read my topic. I draw it.
Read my blog about this issues. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=8290086#8290086 _________________ VW Käfer (Vocho), First registration date in Deutschland: 14/09/1984, Engine 1200.
