Hello,
I bought my first bug, it is a 1960 unrestored, 2 owner, 98k. I plan on a more of a preservation instead of a restoration.

Thanks, I saw that when I first looked at the car and was surprised and concerned. I didn't know that the cars came that way until I started poking around on this website. I plan on moving that filter, any links to forum threads about that topic are appreciated. The rubber seals, etc, are the next thing I would like to do.
I paid $6800 for the car, so I might have paid too much, but I don't think I did. The car looks to be in the original advertised condition, so I am very pleased. |

Hi All. I'm restoring a 61 vert (37868XXX), trying to go as classic and original as humanly possible and I've got some questions for the Pro's:
- Did this car come with the Karmann badge on the front 1/4 panel?
- Is the correct hood a 3 prong w/o the rise?
- Is the hood also suppose to have a Wolfsburg Badge?
- Did this car come with a fuel gauge?
Appreciate all the info you can provide. |

So I picked up a 1960 euro bug (still waiting for a birth certificate to confirm) and I have a few questions that I couldn't seem to find answers to.
What color is the steering column suppose to be painted in a flint gray car?
What about the color of the ebrake?
Are the rear kick panels suppose to be black?
What color are the wheels suppose to be? I saw one earlier in this thread with blue, is that correct?

How did you find the color code for these items? I'm looking for what color they should be on a 1960 Flint Gray. |

Awesome! Can you provide this for 1960 Arctic? I tried to look on that site but it said I didn't have permission.
Thanks |

Wow $6800 for such a great car I think it would be worth $15,000 Aus in Australia. And yes please keep it original as possible that way you will recoup your money in the future . |

A company called Fisco made the mats in the early 1960s for Volkswagen, they haven't been manufactured or reproduced since. I have a front one for sale (RHD, Citrus) correct for Beryl Green cars if you're interested? _________________ 1947 Beetle

I didn't see it posted anywhere in this thread, but what about the '60 only gas tank? They have notches where the mounting tabs hold it down, I've literally only seen these in '60 bugs. This picture is borrowed from the gallery...

I bought my soon to be 15 y/o daughter this 1960 Semaphore Beetle. She has been doing a lot of research on getting as many parts on it back to correct. It is still 6V and will stay that way. We will install a disc brake conversion and lower the front end this weekend.
This winter we will take it back to the chassis and change the color to the stock color once we find out what it is supposed to be. |

If it was my daughter, I'd be putting flashing LED tail lights in back, and wiring up the front signals to flash in the running light in the headlight bucket, or putting some other lights on teh front bumper as signals. I had semaphores, nobody sees them or knows to look on the side of the car for signals. |

Hi,
I have an October 1960 built 61 model beetle. Chassis code 3418012
It is pastel blue and being an Australian car, it has the factory fitted "50/50" tail lights.
The car is quite original except for a few modifications, but it is a matching number car.
I have a question regarding my seat trims.
I believe it is the "Ice Blue" seat trim, however I'm not 100% sure.
I am looking for a new top and bottom front seat trim for my drivers seat as it is the only trim that is damaged.
Any help Identifying exactly what it is and where to get one in good condition would be much appreciated!!
Kind regards,
Ryan

You don't happen to still have the RHD rubber mat to suit pastel blue do you? |
