I saw this thread was locked, and pulled some strings to have it unlocked (well, not really...turns out it was locked by accident)

anyway...who's in? looks like it will be a good time. I went years ago and it was a pretty nice venue as I recall

hey Tom...

a quick google search got these hits

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=campgrounds+near+cumberland+ri&spf=1498781807695

Normandy farms may be a bit of $$$....

I am about an hour south of the show. depending on the interest, I could have 15-20 people camp here (I have room for a lot more, but I don't want to go too crazy) I am not sure if it would make sense for you to drive here and back track an hour

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

(the route in yellow is about equidistant and may be a bit more of a relaxed ride and miss 95 all together)

seeing the show starts "late" by our normal standards we could hit up a local "greasy spoon" breakfast place. they have killer food

https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g338...ticut.html

super small place with that 30's 40's vibe. if it works out, I can call the owner and make sure they could handle us. very little parking as it's in the heart of Noank

that said...IF there is enough interest and IF I know who you are people are welcome here. absolutely NO DOGS I don't need to listen to your dog, my dog or my wife bark all night. in terms of a convoy to the show, bring a GPS...I am not going to do 8 mph trying to keep a train of vw's in 1 line.

if it looks like it's going to work out we can chill here around a fire pit or whatever...party at one of the casinos etc etc...could be a decent time

let me know. you can drop anchor here if you'd like.

again, it's all weather depending but we could firm up a plan a week or so before the show.

hoping for a good turn out at the show. it would be nice to have something that wasn't 300 miles away....

VW's On The Hill is just 2 weeks away! Here are a few updates...

The first 100 show cars will receive dash plaques.

The morning entertainment will be provided by Cee Cee & The Riders, specializing in blues and old time rock n' roll, out of southern Rhode Island.
https://www.facebook.com/ceeceeandtheriders/

The afternoon entertainment will be provided by Dynamite Rhythm, a 6 piece rock & roll band from Southern New England that will take you back to the 50's, 60's and 70's. Fun for the whole family!
https://www.facebook.com/dynamiterhythm/

Food and beverages will be provided by 2 food trucks...

(1) Fork In The Road, local and seasonally inspired New England and regional comfort food. The classics you grew up with, presented with a farm fresh modern twist. Also some vegetarian choices.
https://www.facebook.com/servingitupCT/

(2) Uncle E's BBQ Express, "The Best Barbecue Food Truck in Worcester"
https://www.facebook.com/UncleEbbqexpress/

Also, to help satisfy your sweet tooth, there is a family owned ice cream parlor located across the street from the park entrance.

Door prizes

50/50 raffle

Hope to see you there!

I'm a first-timer to this show. Have been going to the Litchfield, and the Terryville shows for the past 14 years faithfully (R.I.P.) And I need to see all the old VWs gathered together in the Summertime like a fish needs water! Looking forward to attending!

all in all a good show. good vendor turn out as well, and scored some stuff I was looking for.

either I missed it, or somehow just didn't notice, but the award deal was kind of screwy....I overheard a bunch of folks not realizing they were called.

other than that, it was a great day

Thanks to everyone for coming out to the show, it was an excellent turnout with 100+ show vehicles. We couldn't do it without the great Volkswagen community, so thanks again. Since we had such a great first turnout, we are going to make this an annual event. See you next August!
