Russian VW Käfer restoration, Mex, 1984 Samtroter Sonderkäfer

Hello World! Today 10 years as the Volkswagen factories working in Russia in two Cities Kaluga and N.Novgorod.
We received an invitation from Volkswagen AG (Russia) company to exhibit the retro products of the Volkswagen AG concern of different years. We drove about 400 km from Moscow to Factory in Kaluga city... and there was about 4000 people of workers and too much interesting. We had an excursion to all production staged, including the motor work and painting, for Volkswagen and for Skoda. We were not shown only the workshop of a large-scale assembly of Audi A8 / Q7 cars.

Hello everybody!
The parcel with a small thing came from the Netherlands and the free half of the day was released. As a result, the metalwork repair for this season is considered closed.
Based on the results of work for today:

1. There are lock rings on the door stops. It was not the first time in the car wash the washers were rubbing a stopper with a rag.
2. Install protective tubes on the cowl springs.
3. Replaced by the original, more elastic "kidney" ventilation deflectors on the sides of the car. The previous Chinese in the heat constantly from their fastening places climbed it was necessary to put their fingers in place.
4. Protective rubber caps are installed on the generator terminals.
5. Replacing the right hand brake cable. The fact is that there was a short one, which did not allow efficient operation of the rear right brake. The parking brake is set to 4-5 clicks.
6. Dismantled old strange Russian maded horn and installed a new original horn with a frequency of 400Hz from Hella.
It remains a month before another to wet and cold weather to go out to please yourself and others and then fall into a long winter's sleep.

Next year I will do small chipping and I will polish the varnish on the body and change the bumper to new ones with triple-chrome:)
There is still a thought to change the steering gearbox with brand TRW.

Today is the day that 33 years ago in Mexico, at the Volkswagen Group factory in city Pueblo, my car left the assembly line, and left the factory`s parking on September 4, then sailed by the ocean from the Mexican port of Veracruz to Germany to the port of Emden, where on September 14 1984 it was put on first registration.
The customer of the car was a VW / Audi dealer located near Düsseldorf in the small town Ratingen-Lintorf. Who was the ultimate buyer remains a mystery, the archive of the VW auto museum does not have such data, and even now the dealer/niederlassung (distribution center) does not exist there.
PS: I do not plan to celebrate Birthday, except that the steering gearbox for 165 euros to buy a new original as a gift

When your steering gearbox comes in check that it isn't too tight. If it is don't force it to turn it. There may be some remedies and forcing it to turn will damage the roller.

Also, if it is too easy to turn check that it doesn't have much play. I had one with 5 inches of play at the steering wheel.

If you get one in that isn't that great you might be able to take it and your originally and rebuild the original with the new parts and a kit. There is a thread. Let me know and I can link you to the thread.

Today the weather in Moscow reminded to me the summer, everyone had the time and the desire to meet, stood at the Moscow State University, made a circle in the city center of Moscow, had a good talk, was glad to see everyone!
