Can anyone tell me about this intake? What is this port for? I think this is off a 1970 single port 1600.

Wow, great write up. I have always felt that the original engineers did things for a reason and I have been reluctant to omit them. That post makes a very good case for keeping it. Unfortunately mine has long since disappeared prior to me getting it. Perhaps I'll search around and see if I can re-install one.
