My van came with a Waeco fridge that's missing the cord--the place where the cord plugs in looks like this:

I've found what appears to be an OEM-type plug online in Australia (I'm in the U.S.) for $32 and change that looks like this:

The connectors on the panel behind the driver's seat look like this (so no cigarette style plug):

I know the connectors I have are not recommended, but I've also see comments to the effect that the cigarette style connectors aren't all that great either. So, my question is whether I should be looking to connect the fridge directly to the battery or via a type of connector other than those mentioned above. If so what do people recommend/how to do it?
