I am a fan of the rectangular look and there seem to be some choices to pursue there as well as round.
Has anyone looked at something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Rectangular-Headlights-Frei...64AWD2WG79 _________________ Ella '89 Full Camper - bit by bit I'm importing the pieces from my wrecked '87

I may have missed it but does using the turn signal feature on these headlights require an LED flasher instead? Or not because the original blinkers are still in use and the LED headlight is just tapping off them? I'm looking at the 7" inchers which allow you to adjust the outer ring color via bluetooth so you can run any color halo you wish. Kinda a fun whiz-bang feature and total waste of money... _________________ '87 Westy 1.8T Conversion, Orignal Owner, European Delivery @ Westfalia factory in Weidenbrueck.

No need for an LED flasher as long as you have filament bulbs in the stock turn signals. _________________ Jay Brown

Hey guys check out this LED with DRL.
I've got them on my 86 and very happy with them for around town in traffic and freeway driving. I have them on the S.A. grill.
I'm not wildly enthusiastic about it's high beam, but I have the S.A. High beam and together it is really good providing light to see the road in front of you with oncoming superbright projection beams.

There are more then one DRL 7" brand on there, I bought by highest output rating. |
I bought what looks to be the same LED headlights. They are cheap Chinese knock-offs of JW Speaker but they have the DRLs that change color and flash when you turn on your turn signals. Mine are from a company called "Lantsun" on Amazon.com ($115/pair... JW Speakers are $450/pair). The Lantsun rated well on Amazon, but IMO the low beams SUCK. However, the high beams coupled with my SA halogen inner headlights are really good. I like the Lantsun DRLs and I especially like that the DRLs change color to amber and flash with the turn signals. Not sure if I'm going to keep the Lantsuns or ditch them for JW Speakers (which do not offer the DRL/Turn Signal option). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VV085WI/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 _________________ 1990 Multivan - "Ohana"

FYI, I noticed that they look almost exactly like the Truck-Lite 27270C.

If they are, I have a pair on my Vanagon and another on a motorcycle. Light pattern, brightness, and color are excellent. The Truck-Lites have been around for a while and are considered some of the best LED headlights for the money. I highly recommend them. |
The GOWESTY led lights are actually Peterson made in the USA https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/peterson-great-wh...39%7C12175 The price for a pair from go Westy is actually very good from what I can find online. I just ordered a pair with the 15% store wide discount! Please PM me if anyone is looking for some squares. |

I purchased JW Speaker 8630's for the inner lights. There are mods mentioned that are needed for these LED's
"Yes - trimmed off one side of each bucket and riveted a side piece back on with some scrap sheet metal to each one - required to "open " the hole a bit more for the increased diameter. Painted everything matte black, attached the headlight and screwed each assembly to the front frame. The lens will fit into an SA grill opening. It's been almost a year with no issues at all."
- which side of bucket was trimmed? Inside or outside of bucket?
- there seems to be space concern on drivers side light. I have 87 Westy 2WD,
is there a difference on that side of van from my '87 to a newer model or a
synchro?
- How was LED light attached to existing bracket? Old lights have mounts attache to the bulb.
Dinner and a beverage for pictures of modifications!
How do I take cool new LED light and attach to existing bucket after bucket modifications?! thanks |
