Looks like a split bus / karmann ghia sender.
But unsure about the VDO reference number.

If you have an ohm meter, measure its resistance - Lug to sender body. Then turn it upside down and measure resistance again. It should not be open or shorted either way. This will only tell you if it is good or not

Does anyone know who's handing VDO senders right now or if these work?

Both you linked to are VDO senders made in Brazil. I bought one for my KG almost three years ago and it works beautifully, so I bought a 2nd to put on the shelf as a backup. I went through two of the Chinese made ones in a little less than two months before stumbling onto the VDO Brazil ones.

I got mine from egauges.com, but that site is now dead. Never bought from partdeal.com but it looks to be almost the same as the old egauges offerings. Jegs.com would be a reliable source as well, and personally I'd be inclined to buy there first, even if it cost a little more.

I think the 190mm length fits split buses.
