Is there a trick to reaching the top stud on the front emblem stud, getting the nut on there? It's the one inside behind the dash below the windows, it's crazy insane to reach in there. I can get a finger on it, but threaded a nut, seems to be quite challenging. |

how about putting some puddy on there? the other 3 will keep it in place, and the puddy will keep it from rattling or moving around? _________________ regards

my friend ran a jet boat repair service-- the thieves plugged into his outdoor outlet and used a sawzall to cut the entire transom out of a $40,000 boat to steal the motor n pump.
so-- maybe --- a $125 front emblem vs a torn cut dented nose is a consideration here.
Personally- I'm going to use R Earth magnets. and fake emblems from door skin ply before my next emblem is stolen. _________________ some days I get up and just sit and think. Some days I just sit.

Would a local Ace or Emigh Hardware have something like that:

I've got nuts on the other studs and they secured nicely, but that top one I bet I'll need to use a clip to get it on there. Nice tips! Yeah, it would suck to have it stolen but if there on there TOO SECURE someone could pry and damage the front end. |

Yes, Ace has clips but they are not metric last time I checked so you might have run a drill through them to widen them a tiny bit.
I've done that in the past. _________________ How to Post Photos

I got it on by removing the parcel tray and possibly the wiper motor. _________________ Kevin Albrecht

^^ another vote for rare earth magnets on the back of the emblem. allows you to take the emblem off and store it in the car if you think your logo is in risk of being pinched. The problem with making the logo too secured to the bus is that a determined thief will end up trashing the nose of the bus in their effort to remove the emblem |

I had to get my friend with small hands to do it. I think he may have put double sided tape on his finger and the clip. _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust." |

On my '61:
For the top push-on clip, I remember holding the clip with a pair of needle nose pliers while my wife pushed the emblem down from the outside.
This gave me enough hand space to hold it from a distance.
As kevin said, it's possible I dropped the parcel tray too, can't remember.
I definitely didn't pull the wiper motor.
Don't forget the little rubber seals on the posts too. _________________ How to Post Photos

Last time someone snatched my emblem, they left their blood (plus a trail of bloody tissues up the street). I doubt it was worth it.

I threaded mine on my DC more for ease of install vs. theft, although that is a close second. I believe it was an M5 x .8mm die, which worked perfectly, and The Depot even had SS wingnuts to make installation a breeze. _________________ ,,Wenige Menschen denken, und doch wollen alle entscheiden.'' -der Alte Fritz

Did you sharpen the emblem to a razors edge? _________________ some days I get up and just sit and think. Some days I just sit.
